Thousands of workers in Indonesia have protested against a 33 per cent rise in the cost of fuel.

The government has said that current fuel subsidies cost them billions each year, but for 100 million Indonesians living on two dollars per day, the latest in a series of hikes is a step too far.

Low-income workers feel they are being priced off the roads.
